Hmm interesting. I would say "monastery" but I am sure I am wrong.
I'm not sure what it was. Maybe just a strangely shaped house. It was across the road from my cousin's house, in the French countryside near Geneva.
I guess I would be curious enough to try google street view ... ... ;-)
