Well, even more reason it's familiar. You're out in the back country adjacent to my favorite part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. I've done a lot of shooting there with my banquet cameras (which don't take well to hiking into the woods) especially from the section that looks out to the Cowee Mountains.
I didn't know you wandered this far south. My wife has camped quite a bit in this area and in the Shining Rock Wilderness, which is to the east of Middle Prong. I'm a backpacking newbie, so this was my first visit to this part of the world. Unfortunately, we didn't take a compass, so we're not exactly sure where we were. However, Michelle claims that the next mountain over was Mount Hardy. And we hiked in on the NC Mountains to Sea trail.

Fascinating place, I didn't know about this part of the Blue Ridge. It reminds me a bit of the Dolly Sods area in WV. Have to study up about it.
