A brief tangent: A month or so ago, I rented a Panasonic FZ1000, just to try it out. I carried it to my favorite wetland, Lake Conestee Nature Park, and walked around for a while. Through sheer luck, and a bit of stealthy stalking, I found myself about six feet from this fine plain-bellied water snake. At 400mm equivalent, the FZ1000 let me get this picture. Not art. But a fun picture for me.
